Christmas flamingo1/10/2024 Well worth it to sit in the hot sun, which is why you are there. ( not for the folks in the upgraded club, who have their own roof terrace ) we did and up popping out side to the bar opposite called the Corner Bar, to have the odd beer for 1.50 Euros per pint. This was evident on a sunny day, where seating in the sun was tricky to get. Shame! We did find most of the indoor areas in the hotel to be a bit chilly ( not the downstairs entertainment area ) so wearing a longed sleeve bit of clothing was a good idea. Doing the toe/finger test the water was more than warm, very inviting. Do look! We walked past and saw steam coming off. There is an indoor pool, which after reading many complaints about the pool being cold, we did not bother to even look. Simples! One or two staff could have smiled a bit more, but some of the guests are a bit on the rude and on side grumpy to them, so if they are not ecstatic to serve them I’m not surprised. We were polite to them, in return they were polite to us. We never had any problems with bar staff. There was amazing friendly male waiter who showed you to your table, very happy smiley. Nothing wrong with the food, you just get a bit fed up with it. We found the food very good for the first few days, but then All inclusive fever hit us and we found the food a bit samey. W did not know they were coming! On to the holiday itself. To our surprise our friends from last year’s Benidorm holiday were hiding at the bar to surprise us when we checked in! That was amazing! We had the best time with them and it made our holiday. The animation team were on hand, with welcome drinks and instructions on how to use free Wifi ( which worked anywhere in hotel ) they showed you the machine where you got the Wifi voucher and to shorten the queue they printed out the Wifi vouchers for waiting guests. ![]() The people on the last coach did have a long wait. We were lucky as 3 or 4 coaches turned up together and we were near the front of the queue. Flight not bumpy, friendly staff on plane. We look forward to seeing you over the festive period – remember we’re only closed on 25th and 26th December.Flights outwards and return with Tui were bang on time, no delays. Once all the meal worms were gone it was time for the keepers to tidy up the mess!ĭepending on the animal, some might play with the presents whilst others will climb on them or completely destroy them! Regardless of how the animals respond to them, it provides them with something new to investigate. They buried their heads inside the gifts and were kept busy for a good thirty minutes. Within a few minutes they were using their claws to dig through the paper like an excited child on Christmas morning tearing open their presents. Our meerkats were sceptical at first but within a short time started sniffing these new festive additions to their enclosure. Providing our animals with gift wrapped presents will allow them to use their natural instincts to obtain the treats inside. We also encourage these natural behaviours here at the zoo, and so enrichment is a key part of looking after animals, ensuring they are stimulated and challenged each day. Meerkats come from Southern Africa and in the wild they will spend hours foraging and digging through the sand to find food. ![]() However, these weren’t just any ordinary Christmas crackers or presents – they were full of meal worms, one of their favourite snacks. ![]() Our meerkats were extremely lucky this week as they were the first animals to receive their very own presents and Christmas crackers made by our Education Team. Our team are so dedicated that on Christmas Day, whilst the zoo is closed to visitors, the animals will enjoy their usual routine with several receiving a wrapped present too as part of their enrichment programme. With Christmas just around the corner the excitement is building here at the zoo in Flamingo Land!Īs we all prepare to share our festive treats with our family and friends the relationship is no different here between our animals and keepers.
